Challenges: Scaling and architectural adaptation to the historically valuable Vaasa barracks environment, as well as the busy street running along the south side of the building where it is attached. The plan is based on a shared first-place result in the land allocation competition for the project.
Solutions: A classical modern architecture that connects to its environment using consistent architectural themes. The result is an urban stone building with a high street-side base and a classic material and color scheme. Apartment balconies are primarily located at the ends and facing the courtyard, and the building frame is kept narrow.
